Why don’t any CFL supporters/articles mention the amount of mercury present in CFL’s? Why isn’t there any infrastructure set up to properly deal with this hazardous waste? I also notice no one mentions the power factor of CFL’s…its about .5 (1 is best) which is very bad i.e. not very efficient since the actual VA (power consumption) is greater than what is implied. This is what Energy Star is all about…reaching a power factor of 1. If CFL’s are required (at some point) to have a power factor at or near 1, they will likely be much more expensive. Incandescents are not as polluting…no mercury. That is the reality. BTW – I have had many CFL’s go bad in less than a year…and the Gov’t says to put them in a plastic bag and throw them away. Nice.

There’s no better way to make clean energy cheap than to make dirty energy expensive. Global Oil Socialism focuses on keeping oil cheap by taxing the global economy to foot the bill for guns and roses. Nations have no power to change this unfortunate reality. All you need do however, is change yourself.
